2023 Chevrolet Colorado: a tour de force

Eight years after presenting us with a Chevrolet Colorado that redefined the standards in the mid-size truck segment, Chevrolet is back with an even more exciting new generation, ready to lead the way once again by offering more and more to enthusiasts.

In fact, when you take a look at the lineup of the new 2023 Colorado, you can't help but be amazed; what Chevrolet is offering is impressive.

Without further ado, let's take a look at how the model will be available when it arrives on the market.

The versions

Let's start with the versions, because there are many to choose from. First of all, there are two more basic variants, the WT and LT models. In their case, they will benefit from a regular chassis configuration. They will also inherit the basic powertrain, the 237 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque version of the 2.7-liter turbo 4-cylinder that will serve all models.

The 310 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque variant will be available as an option, by the way. The difference, beyond the numbers, is that the second one allows you to tow 7700 pounds instead of 3500 pounds (6000 with the ZR2 model). An eight-speed automatic transmission is present throughout.

Next up are the Z71 and Trail Boss models. Automatically, the latter receive the 310 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque version of the 4-cylinder. Their suspension will also be raised by 2 inches. Aesthetically, they will also have distinct signatures, so they will be easy to recognize and identify on the road.

Finally, we will rediscover the ZR2 version at the top of the hierarchy. With a 3-inch higher chassis, Multimatic shocks, skid plates and lockable differentials, the ultimate off-road machine is back. Its 38.3-degree angle of attack speaks for itself. Better yet, a Desert Boss version, even more capable of climbing anything that's impassable, will also be offered.

Style and bodywork

Throughout the lineup, it will be easy to recognize the versions as each will have its own signature. In terms of overall styling, it's modeled after the larger Silverado, which adds to the strength of the model's image.

As far as cab and box configurations go, it's pretty straightforward while only the crew cab and short box have been retained for 2023. This is the model you were unanimously asking for anyway.

On the inside, we're expecting an enhanced and more refined presentation compared to the current model. The fact that we're getting an 11.3-inch screen for the multimedia system across the lineup, as well as an 8.0-inch screen on the instrument cluster, says a lot about Chevrolet's efforts.

The 2023 Colorado will be built starting in January 2023, which ensures a spring arrival soon after.
