The redesigned 2022 Chevrolet Silverado introduced last year is now on the market and General Motors is beginning to catch up to demand. That means that while it was difficult to find a new Silverado a few months ago, we are starting to see an improvement in availability. That is good news, because the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado is a very impressive truck that has received multiple enhancements and improvements that make it better in every possible way. Here is a look at what is new and improved on the Chevrolet Silverado.

Enhanced towing capability and performance

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado continues to offer multiple engine options. It starts with a 2.7 L turbocharged high output engine the benefits from a 30% stiffer crankshaft and the most torque of any base engine found in a truck. This engine delivers an impressive 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, a 24% increase in torque over the previous turbo engine. This allows the new entry level powertrain in the Silverado to tow 9,500 lb with two-wheel drive models.

The Chevrolet Silverado is also offered with a 3 l Duramax turbodiesel engine that has a max tow rating of 13,300 lbs. This is a significant Improvement of 4,000 pounds over the previous Silverado diesel engine. The other powertrains include a 5.3 L V8 with Dynamic fuel management and the legendary 6.2 L V8 that provides 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This is by far the most powerful engine you can find in this segment.

Improved luxury

The Chevrolet Silverado offers impressive luxury features and advanced safety technology.There is a new 13.4 inch diagonal touch screen which is standard on many models and there is a new Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance system, the first of its kind in a pickup truck. This system allows the vehicle to essentially drive itself and the driver does not need to keep his or her hands on the wheel.

Other improvements in technology include a new digital instrument cluster as well as a new infotainment system with Google built-in access to Google assistant and Google Maps. In other words, the Chevrolet Silverado is the most luxurious and most advanced Silverado truck ever built.

New hardcore off-road ZR2 version

For the first time ever, the Chevrolet Silverado is offered in an impressive ZR2 model which comes with multiple Technologies designed to enhance off-road capability. These include:

Silverado-first application of Multimatic 40mm DSSV spool-valve dampers, which feature:

Three separate spool valves to control damping
Three connected chambers for fluid flow

Uniquely-tuned springs that, with the Multimatic dampers, increase maximum front and rear suspension travel, compared to the Silverado Trail Boss
Front and rear e-lockers
Specific off-road chassis and suspension calibrations, including Terrain Mode, which allows one-pedal5 rock crawling
Specific 33-inch off-road MT tires
Unique skid plate package
New high-approach steel front bumper designed for off-road strength, durability and clearance that enables an improved 31.8-degree approach angle compared to other Silverado off-road models
